마음이 열리면
When the Mind Opens



마음이 열린다는 건 상대방의 입장이 되어 보는 것입니다.
우주의 입장이 되어 걸림이 없이 다 받아들이는 것입니다.
생각이 없어서가 아니라 상대방의 입장을 이해하기 때문에 걸림이 없는 것입니다.
그 사람은 그럴 수밖에 없다는 걸 아니까 어떤 것도 걸리지 않고 통과해 나갑니다.
Having an open mind means being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes,
and also being able to see things from the viewpoint of the Universe.
It means accepting everything without having hang-ups.
It’s not that you don’t have any hang-ups because you have your own ideas,
but that you have understanding.
As you can see their point of view and can naturally understand
the inevitability of what they do, -no matter what- everything proceeds
without any hang-ups.



마음이 닫혀 있으면 폐쇄적입니다.
막힌 길처럼 어디까지 밖에 못 들어옵니다.
마음이 열리면 일단 수용해서 받아들일 건 받아들이고, 필요 없는 건 그냥 스쳐 나갑니다.
If the mind locks its doors, one becomes intolerant.
Only to a certain degree can something come in, as if the mind is like a blacked road.
If your mind is open, you take in everything at once and you accept the things
that you need to accept and let unnecessary matters float by.



상대방이 화를 내면 화낼 만한 그 상황이 이해가 됩니다.
‘당연히 화낼 만하다’ 이렇게 됩니다.
동정하는 마음이 생기고 오히려 그 사람한테 베풀게 됩니다.
그렇게 하면 상대 못할 사람이 없습니다.
If you come to understand things form another’s viewpoint,
when he gets angry, you can see how that situation could produce anger.
You say, “It’s natural that he would be angry.”
Thus, you form an understanding mind and you become generous to others.
If that’s the case, there will be no one you cannot deal with.



이해하게 되니까 걸리지가 않습니다.
오히려 내가 도와줄 부분이 없는지 살피게 됩니다.
As you come to understand people, there’s nothing to get hung up on your mind.
Rather, you will be looking for a way to help them.
